F5
Networks, one of the world's largest vendors of enterprise networking devices,
released a security advisory this week warning customers to fix a dangerous
security flaw that is most likely being exploited.
The
vulnerability impacts the company's BIG-IP product. These are multipurpose
networking devices that can function as web traffic modeling systems, load
balancers, firewalls, access gateways, rate limiter, or SSL middleware.
BIP-IP
is one of the most popular networking products currently in use. They are used
in government networks around the world, Internet service provider networks,
cloud computing data centers, and widely in corporate networks.
On
its website, F5 states that its BIG-IP devices are used on the networks of 48
companies on the Fortune 50 list.
