The Computer Engineering curriculum should provide basic students in basic sciences, mathematics and humanities. Emphasis should be placed on written and oral communication skills and developed within the program. Also, team project work and an understanding of the ethical and professional responsibilities of engineers should be included in computer engineering programs.
Some of the latest advances in computer engineering
include digital and microcomputer applications, digital signal processing,
image processing, telecommunications, computer architecture, electromagnetic
compatibility and computer vision. Emphasis is placed on these areas, as well
as on digital system design, embedded system design, operating systems, and
other more routine topics in computer engineering. Emphasis is placed on the
widespread use of computers as a tool for mathematical analysis, design, data
analysis and instrumentation. Emphasis is placed on the repetitive design cycle
and the need for documentation and simultaneous development through team
projects.
