Whether it’s a fork that plays and balances at checkout, or a Fortune 500 company that has millions of customers worldwide, computer networks add power, functionality, and flexibility to any computing environment. The computer network, which was only available in administrative and university environments, now stretches from the office to the home and right into our pockets, with cell phones, blackberries and music players.
what is
the main purpose of a computer network
File and data sharing
At one time, file sharing consisted mainly of storing
documents on floppy disks that could be physically transferred to other
computers manually. However, with a network, files can be shared instantly on
the network, either with one or more users. Faculty members can work together
on documents, replace background materials, review spreadsheets, and
simultaneously complete and update a single central customer database without
creating conflicting versions.
