A local area network (LAN) is what it looks like - a group of computers and other devices in the same common place that are interconnected through a network. It is often located in the same building as the office or home.
After setting up an Internet router, you need cables to
create a wireless LAN. (Well, you already know that.) LANs in particular use a
Cat 5 Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connectors - it looks just like the cable you
use to connect the router to the modem.
how
to connect computer to lan network
For all computers, plug one end of the Cat 5 cable into the
computer's network adapter. Plug the other end of the cable into the router.
After your computers are connected to the router and
indirectly to each other, tell each computer about the LAN. Windows 8, 7, and
Vista make it easy - as soon as you plug in the network cable, Windows connects
to the router and establishes your connection. (The most common problem: The
cable is not always connected at one end or the other.)
