There
are good times for those working in the telecommunications sector. Here's what
the results of our first payroll survey tell us.
Earlier
this year, we surveyed telecommunications payroll for 1998. We sent
questionnaires to 2,300 randomly selected readers for cable installation and
maintenance, asking them what they had gained in 1998, plus on questions about
their formal education, industry-specific training. and the type of company
they work for. Ninety-eight of you, from 31 states and the District of
Columbia, returned usable questionnaires.
This is a 4% response, which does not statistically represent all of our approximately 25,000 readers. However, imagine that you and 98 of your peers from across the country have gathered to discuss compensation issues. We believe that our data is as valuable as the information you would get from that conversation, and it is in this sense that we offer it to you.
